CAREER EXPLORATION

 

PRINCIPLES OF TECHNOLOGY I             9/10/11/12       1st (1/2credit)

The technology lab is a one-semester course in which students will experience a comprehensive introduction to the wide array of technologies that are reshaping our world and the careers of the 21st century.  Through hands-on experiences, students will be introduced to topics such as Robotics, Biotechnology, CAD/CAM, Manufacturing Technologies (including Plastics), Electricity and Electronics, Digital video and Satellite Communications, and a wide array of computer applications.  Students will build models, research related jobs, and strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills in real life, problem-solving situations.

 

PRINCIPLES OF TECHNOLOGY II             9/10/11/12      1st(1/2 credit)

PREREQUISITE: Principles of Technology I                     2nd(1/2credit)

 

This course is a continuation of Principles of Technology I.  It is being offered for those students who want to explore the additional modules.

 

 

MEDIA PRODUCTION                            10/11/12            (1/2credit)

                                                           

Media Production is an introduction to the television and broadcasting fields.  Students will write and produce commercials, public service announcements, news and sports casts, and short documentaries.  Students will learn basic equipment theory and operation, as well as acting as television production crewmembers and anchors for the shows being produced.


MODERN  LANGUAGE

 

Because of an expanding foreign trade market and the rapidly changing makeup of the United States, an increasing emphasis is being put on an individual’s ability to communicate in languages other than English.  Students from all career paths are encouraged to study a language.

 

Beaverton High School offers courses in Spanish to give the student a springboard to greater opportunities through enriched knowledge of communication and cultural understanding.

 

SPANISH I                                            09/10/11/12       Both (1credit)

 

This course is designed to introduce students to the Spanish language and culture, with communication being the main objective.  All aspects of the language will be covered, including reading, writing and speaking in Spanish, with an emphasis on building basic vocabulary.

 

SPANISH II                                           10/11/12            Both (1credit)

PREREQUISITE: Spanish I

 

This course is a continuation of Spanish I, continuing basic grammar and developing fluency in speaking and listening skills.  The students will master present, preterit, present progressive and future tense verbs.

 

ADVANCED SPANISH  (Dual Enrolled course)                                                                  11/12            Both (1credit)

PREREQUISITE: Spanish II,  and proper dual enrollment authorization.

 

This is an advanced course and students must have instructor’s permission.  Verbal communication and improvement of speaking and listening skills are the goals of this course.  This course may be offered as a dual-enrolled class.  This course is offered as a dual enrolled course (See instructor).
