Unit 1 The Tools of Algebra The student will be introduced to variables, equations, properties, ordered pairs, and scatter plots Unit 2 Integers Topics of interest include: absolute value, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing of integers,and the coordinate system Unit 3 Equations The student will learn about the distributive property, and equation solving Unit 4 Factors and Fractions The topics include: Factors and monomials, powers and exponents, prime factorization, GCF, and scientific notation Unit 5 Rational Numbers The student will work with fractions Unit 6 Ratio, Proportion, and Percent The student will work with ratios, scale drawings, percents, proportions, and probability Unit 7 Equations and Inequalities The student will solve equations with variables on each side and also solve inequalities Unit 8 Functions and Graphing Topics include: Functions, Linear equations, Slope, Intercepts, and Rate of Change Unit 9 Real Numbers and Right Triangles Areas of interest: Square Roots, Real Number System, Angles, Triangles, Pythagorean Theorem, Midpoint and Distance Formulas, Similar Triangles, Sine-Cosine-Tangent Unit 10 Statistics and Probability The student will be introduced to stem and leaf plots, box and whisker plots, histograms, permutations and combinations, odds | |||
