Lesson Plans For Jason Keefer WEEK OF: Dec 5th, 2005 SUBJECT: Eng II MONDAY: Objective: Students will enhance their reading and comprehension skills. Activity: We will start reading the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Assessment: We will read the story out loud and discuss it; students will get points based on whether or not they participate in class discussion. TUESDAY: Objective: Students will produce journal writing. Activity: Students will select a topic of their choice or one of the choices given to them by me; what do you do on a snow day??? Assessment: Students will do peer editing after they have written their papers, make any corrections found by their peers and then turn in to me. WEDNESDAY: Objective: Students will use their imagination to determine how they would react if they were one of the main characters in “The Most Dangerous Game.” Activity: Students will finish reading the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” out in small groups and then will have to write a 1-2 page paper, using the writing rubric, about what they would do differently, the same, in addition to, what the actual characters did. Assessment: After students are finished with their papers they will have another student read their paper and write out their recommendations for improvement in each other’s papers. They will then be turned into me for a grade after any corrections. THURSDAY: Objective: Students will work on improving their writing skills. Activity: Students will write a 5 paragraph essay Assessment: When the students are finished with their papers, they will turn them into me for a grade. FRIDAY: Objective: Students will work on improving their use of informational text. Activity: Students will use a newspaper to find an article and write a summary and their opinion of what they have read; will follow the writing rubric to write their paper. Assessment: Students will turn paper in to me for a grade. |
