Mr. Keefers BHS Site

Sept. 6th, 2005 - Students will be given class rules sheet;  Mr. Keefer will go over rules sheet with each class.  A brief introduction to what will be accomplished in class will be given and students will be allowed to ask any questions they may have. 

4th Hour students will be given their planners and Mr. Keefer will go over them.  Pages 1 and 2 need to be returned to me by Sept. 13th, 2005.

Sept. 7th, 2005  - English II Mugshots - Students will correct the sentence to the best of their ability.  5 or 10 minutes will be given to do the exercise and then it will be discussed and corrected as a class.

Mugshot 1 - Yes an ocasional quiz will make sure that you are grasping the conceps teached during the "mugshot" exercize.  Paying atennsion and recording it correct are key.

1st Writing assignment -  Students will write on one of the following topics:  Hurricane Katrina, Most embarrasing moment, something they did this summer, favorite book, other.

Sept. 8th, 2005 - Hand back "mugshot" sheets to students to write today's mugshot on it.  We will also correct the sentence for today in class.  There will be a quiz on the 2 sentences we covered the last 2 days on friday.

Vocabulary list  -  students will use dictionary to look up words and write definitions.  Students will also write a sentence using each word correctly.

1.  Radical  - One who favors rapid and sweeping changes
2.  Obituary - A notice of a person's death usually with a short biographical account
3.  Mariner - one engaged in sailing or handling a ship
4.  Inhabitant - one that occupies a particular place regularly
5.  Hesitate - to show irresolution or uncertainty
6.  Flash - a sudden brief light
7.  Engrave - to cut into a surface usually with a graving tool in order to form an inscription or a pictorial illustration
8.  Eagerness - a strong and urgent desire or interest
9.  Deficient - showing lack of something necessary
10.  Contest - an earnest struggle for superiority or victory
11.  Aural - heard or perceived with the ear
12.  Apprehension - fear that something is going or will go wrong
13.  Announce - to communicate, impart
14.  Advance - forward movement especially on a course of action or development
15.  Characteristic - something that marks or sets apart
16.  Considerable - tending more to the large than the small
17.  Prosperity - a state of good fortune and especially of financial success
18.  Represent - to present an image or lifelike imitation of
19.  Savage - being undomesticated and often destructive or ferocious through lack of restraints or human control
20.  Standstill - cessation of movement, to stop

Sept. 9th, 2005 - Quiz on Mugshots/Current Events;  students will also finish looking up definitions for their vocabulary words and using those words in a sentence.
