LESSON PLANS FOR 10-10-200510-14-2005

Oct 10th, 2005 - We will go over and correct the tests from the book ‘Of Mice and Men.’ Then students will be divided into groups of four and each group will have a spokesperson.  Groups will be given a copy of a comma and semi-colon worksheet and will be required to insert commas and semi-colons where they believe they should go.  Each group will then have to fix one of the sentences on the board and explain why they used the comma or semi-colon.  Then they will be given a copy of the list of rules for semi-colons and commas and go back and correct any errors from their initial attempt.

Oct 11th, 2005 - Students will copy the mug shot sentence on the board and we will correct it as a class; Students will be given a quiz on their mug shot sentences from last week.  Students will be given the #2 worksheet on commas and semi-colons and correct them individually; students will be given this weeks vocabulary words.

Students will write a journal entry - topic that will be given is: If you were a teacher, which subject or subjects would you teach and what would your grading scale, class rules, philosophy of education, classroom management be, etc. be??

Oct. 12th, 2005 – Students will copy the mug shot sentence on the board and we will correct it as a class; Students will be given an outline for their English articles; we will also talk about informational text; students will be given examples of it:  newspapers, early, evening, or late news, etc.

Oct. 13th, 2005 – Students will copy the mug shot sentence on the board and we will correct it as a class.  Students will also be given a quiz on last week’s vocabulary words; then students will be given time in class to read their books (Drop Everything And Read – D.E.A.R.)

Oct. 14th, 2005 – Students will also be given the total # of points possible and the number of points they have earned and will have to figure out the percentage so they can see what their grade currently is in English II.  We will play current events Students will then be divided into 2 groups and we will play current events - I will ask the questions, one team will get to answer; if they answer incorrectly, the other teams gets a chance to answer.  Teams will alternate answering first;  Each question will be worth 5 points.
